17-Year-Old Basketball Star Noah Scurry Fatally Shot Near Home In Pennsylvania

Noah Scurry, a 17-year-old basketball standout from Pennsylvania, tragically lost his life this week after being fatally shot near his home.

The Philadelphia Police Department reported that the incident occurred at approximately 7:15 AM on Tuesday, January 14, as Scurry was on his way to Samuel Fels High School. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. “No arrests have been made, and no weapon was recovered,” police stated.

Scurry, a senior and captain of the boys’ basketball team at Samuel Fels High School, had been receiving college recruitment interest, according to his cousin, Breanna McGlynn. In response to the tragedy, the school has canceled its basketball games for the week.

Melissa Rasper, the principal of Samuel Fels High School, described Scurry as a remarkable student and athlete. “He was more than just an accomplished basketball player; he recently achieved the highest SAT scores at the school. Our deepest condolences and thoughts go out to the family and friends of this student,” Rasper said in a statement.

To support Scurry’s family with funeral expenses, a GoFundMe page has been created. The devastating loss of this young talent has left a deep void in his community, school, and beyond.
