Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared that the 2027 general elections will pit the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against the Nigerian people. Speaking at the commissioning of the Late Olusoji Adagunodo zonal secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan, Makinde emphasized the importance of unity among PDP leaders.

Makinde stated that his political agenda would be self-determined, urging party leaders to work together to salvage the country. He believes the 2027 elections will transcend party affiliations, becoming a referendum on the APC’s performance.

Prominent PDP leaders in attendance included Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and former Governors Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu. Governor Adeleke stressed the need for internal unity, while Damagum praised Adagunodo’s contributions to the party.

As the 2027 elections approach, Makinde’s statement highlights the significance of Nigerians’ voices in determining the country’s leadership. The PDP’s unity and cooperation will be crucial in its bid to reclaim the South-West states and the nation.
