3 Story Building Collapses in Lagos after Heavy Rain Downpour

A 3-storey building, under construction in Lagos Island Local Government of Lagos state has collapsed in the early hours of Thursday during the heavy rain downpour.

According to eyewitness, the building under construction, collapsed at about 10:15am during the early morning downpour.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident, but said there was no casualty or injury recorded during the incident.

LASEMA emergency officials were also on ground to clear the rubble of the building.

“Further investigation is ongoing to determine the immediate and remote cause of the collapse”, Oke-Osanyitolu stated.

He said anyone found culpable would be sanctioned accordingly.

The building collapse, comes 2 days after heavy rain downpour left many houses and roads flooded in Lagos state.
