Students Loan to begin January 2024 – Minister of State for Education Tanko Sununu

The Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu has restated the commitment of the Federal Government to commence the Students Loan by January 2024.

The Minister while featuring on an Arise TV Interview said the government is currently working on addressing all the bottlenecks concerning the loan and work out modalities for an acceptable means of accessing the loan.

Tanko Sununu, further stated that the students loan will not be based on ‘connections’, adding that the processes for the application of the loan will be made available online for students to access.


Recall that President Bola Tinubu signed the Student Loan bill into law in June, 2023, which allows Nigerian students in tertiary institutions to access interest-free loans from the Nigerian education loan fund.
