In a major move to accelerate the country’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable transportation, the Dangote Group has announced the arrival of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks into Nigeria. This historic deployment marks one of the largest single investments in green mobility in Africa’s road transport sector to date.

The newly landed fleet is set to reduce the nation’s dependency on diesel-powered logistics and cut carbon emissions significantly, aligning with Nigeria’s broader energy diversification goals. The CNG trucks will be deployed across Dangote’s expansive logistics network and integrated into daily operations immediately.

Speaking on the development, Group Executive Director of Dangote Industries, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, stated, “This initiative is not just a milestone for Dangote—it is a leap forward for Nigeria’s energy resilience and environmental future. By embracing CNG technology, we’re reinforcing our commitment to sustainable industry leadership.”

To support the seamless rollout and daily refueling needs of the fleet, the company is also advancing plans to establish 100 strategically located CNG refueling stations across major highways and logistics corridors. These stations will serve both Dangote’s trucks and the wider public, paving the way for a more accessible and eco-friendly transport infrastructure.
