Bichi out, as new DSS and NIA DG appointed

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), effective immediately.

This appointment follows the resignation of the previous Director-General, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.

In a separate announcement, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), succeeding Ahmed Abubakar, who tendered his resignation recently. Ambassador Mohammed brings a distinguished career in foreign service to the role, having served in various capacities since joining the NIA in 1995.

Mr. Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has a proven track record of service, having risen through the ranks to attain his current position of Assistant Director-General. His experience spans multiple states, including Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

President Tinubu has charged the new security chiefs to work collaboratively to enhance the effectiveness of their respective agencies, leveraging their expertise to address the nation’s security challenges in conjunction with sister agencies and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The President has also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Directors-General for their dedicated service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
