Drama erupted on Monday on the floor of the Senate, as some Senators demanded the suspension of the screening of a ministerial nominee from Delta State, Festus Keyamo.

The senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Darlington Nwokocha, moved a motion for the suspension of Keyamo, who is a former Minister of State, Labour and Employment.

Senator Nwokocha’s motion was seconded by a senator from Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe.

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio thereafter subjected the motion to a voice vote, but the lawmakers were divided on the matter.

As at the time of reporting, the red chamber is in a rowdy session, with the Upper chamber retreating to a closed-door session to deliberate on the motion.
