Ministerial nominee Festus Keyamo, has finally been screened by the Senate, after he tendered an apology for failing to honour invitations by the National Assembly during his stint as the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity under the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Beesreign Media had reported how some Senators moved for his screening to be suspended, over the several clashes they had with Keyamo. Some of the issues with Festus Keyamo include his failure to explain honour an invitation to explain Special Public Works programme, and also the allegations he leveled against some senators on that program.

While tendering his apology, the former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity provided more insight into the circumstances.

Maybe it was as a result of the lack of knowledge of the fact that this matter had long been resolved between us and the members of that committee. Subsequently, there were so many hearings – budget defence and all that – we attended under a very convivial atmosphere. So, the apology is without reservation. I apologize.”

Senator Godiya Akwashiki who chaired the committee on Labour in the last Senate appealed to allow Keyamo to ‘take a bow and go’, having apologized.

Senator Ali Ndume then moved a motion that the Senate accept Keyamo’s apology, which was eventually accepted.

With the screening of Festus Keyamo, the Senate has now interviewed all the 48 Ministerial nominees forwarded by President Bola Tinubu.
