“Social media ended oppression in Nigerian music industry” – Danny Young

Nigerian singer Ajibola Danladi, professionally known as Danny Young has open up on how he believes social media has served as a turning point in the music industry.

Speaking in a recent podcast, he discussed how social media has democratized the industry, reducing the control once wielded by powerful gatekeepers.

He added that social media has made it possible for artistes to express themselves in ways they see fit and the internet will not judge yet support them. Young went ahead to acknowledge that the Generation Z (Gen Z) has something to do with it as they are known for freedom.

In his words:

“The good thing is that social media came to expose many of them because it gave people the opportunity to express themselves. That is what led to the emergence of what we call Gen Z.

“My definition of Gen Z is freedom of speech, freedom of rights, and freedom of expression.”
