A devastating incident occurred on Saturday night, September 8, 2024, in Sapele, Delta State, where Mrs. Fatima Umukoro, proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools, was allegedly killed by her 25-year-old son, Emmanuel Umukoro.

The deceased was the wife of Rev Prince Umukoro, a well-known resident pastor of Victory Family Assembly Int’l (VIFA).

According to reports, Emmanuel had been struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse, leading to violent outbursts. Despite rehabilitation efforts, his struggles persisted.

Neighbors reported that Emmanuel used an axe to hack his mother to death and set her body ablaze.

The incident was discovered when neighbors noticed the open gate and unusual fire coming from the house.

Emmanuel was apprehended by the police along Sapele-Warri Road while attempting to escape in his mother’s car.

The State Police Command spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that Emmanuel is in custody, but his involvement in the murder is still under investigation.
