Dangote Refinery’s Low Diesel Prices Spark Complaints from Marketers, Amidst Export Woes

Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, has revealed that petroleum product marketers in Nigeria have complained to President Bola Tinubu about the low price of diesel from the Dangote Refinery.

The refinery has reduced the price of diesel from N1,200 to N900 per litre, affecting marketers’ revenue and margins.

Despite producing 29 tankers of diesel daily, the refinery struggles to sell due to low patronage from local marketers, leading to exports of diesel and aviation fuel.

Edwin highlighted the challenges facing the refinery, including poor local patronage, and emphasized the impact on Nigeria’s fuel supply and prices.

He also announced the start of PMS production at the refinery, but noted that if local demand is low, they may export it like they do with aviation fuel and diesel.
