Al Nassr Sacks Head Coach Luis Castro Amid Slow Season Start

Al Nassr has announced the departure of head coach Luis Castro, following a disappointing start to the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League season.

The club expressed gratitude to Castro and his staff for their 14-month tenure, marked by 36 wins, nine draws, and nine losses in 54 games.

Despite boasting stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, and Aymeric Laporte, Al Nassr failed to secure any titles under Castro.

Last season, the team finished second in the Saudi Pro League, trailing champions Al Hilal by 14 points.

A 1-1 draw against Al Shorta in the AFC Champions League Elite opener added to the pressure leading to Castro’s exit.

This marks the second coaching change since Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023, following Rudi Garcia’s departure in April 2023.

Ronaldo has impressively scored 62 goals and provided 17 assists in 69 appearances for the club.

The search for Castro’s replacement is underway, with notable candidates including Stefano Pioli and Thomas Tuchel.
