Comrade Kennedy Iyere, Accord Party’s candidate for Edo State governor, has withdrawn from the race hours before the election.

Citing a desire to address Nigeria’s broader social and economic issues, Iyere steps down amid campaign difficulties.

Internal conflicts plagued his campaign, including attempts by running mate Bright Enabulele to discredit him.

Enabulele falsely claimed to be the party’s nominee despite government records indicating otherwise.

The Edo State gubernatorial election proceeds on September 21 with leading candidates:

– Asue Ighodalo (PDP)

– Senator Monday Okpebholo (APC)

– Olumide Akpata (Labour Party)

Iyere shifts focus to federal initiatives tackling unemployment, economic development, and food insecurity.

He advocates for fair power rotation, supporting an Edo Central Senatorial District candidate.

“I’m serving Nigerians at large, rebuilding Nigeria’s economic greatness,” Iyere stated.

He assists federal social intervention programs for youth entrepreneurship, self-employment, and poverty alleviation, aiming to create over six million jobs.
