The Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to ensure a peaceful governorship election in Edo State.

On the eve of the election, the police arrested two political thugs, Edwin Obanor (43) and Audu Tajudeen (41), a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Acting on a tip-off, police operatives conducted a nighttime raid on multiple locations, apprehending Obanor at Oredo Ward 4 and Tajudeen at Igara Akoko. Searches revealed:

– Three locally fabricated pistols on Obanor

– One locally made gun on Tajudeen

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, these arrests demonstrate the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the elections.

“The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any form of violence or disorderliness during the election,” ACP Adejobi emphasized. “We urge citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through our published helplines.”

The suspects are currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law. The police and other security agencies remain vigilant, ensuring a secure and peaceful electoral process in Edo State.
