Justice Binta Nyako has withdrawn from the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), citing a loss of confidence in the court.

Kanu, facing seven counts of terrorism, requested Justice Nyako’s recusal due to the court’s alleged failure to obey Supreme Court orders. He stated, “I have no confidence in this court… I ask you to recuse yourself.”

The development unfolded when Kanu directed his lawyer, Alloy Ejimakor, to sit down during proceedings. Kanu then expressed concerns about the court’s impartiality.

Despite prosecution counsel Adegboyega Awomolo’s objections, Justice Nyako declared, “I hereby recuse myself and remit the case file back to the Chief Judge.”
