The House of Representatives has launched an investigation into bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

Social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, alleged that the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, after receiving N15 million.

Representative Patrick Umoh sponsored the motion, expressing concerns over the damaging impact on Nigeria’s reputation and calling for swift action.

The allegations include:

– EFCC’s alleged acceptance of N15 million to drop charges against Bobrisky

– Bobrisky’s conviction for Naira abuse, yet non-serving of sentence at NCS

The House referred the matter to the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions for a thorough investigation, with a report due within three legislative weeks.

This investigation aims to address corruption concerns and ensure the integrity of Nigerian law enforcement agencies.
