FG Declares Holiday for Independence Day on October 1

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians worldwide, praising their resilience and hard work. He acknowledged the sacrifices of Nigerian men and women, ensuring their efforts will not be in vain.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized unity in building a better Nigeria, reflecting on past heroes’ labor and inspiring future generations. He urged citizens to remain steadfast in nation-building.

October 1 marks Nigeria’s independence from British rule in 1960. The day will be celebrated with parades, cultural events, and speeches across the country.

The government encourages all Nigerians to participate in the celebrations, promoting unity, patriotism, and national pride. “Let us unite to build a brighter future for Nigeria,” Tunji-Ojo said.
