Omoyele Sowore Defies Government Warnings, Set to Lead Nationwide Protest

Despite explicit warnings from the Federal Government and Nigerian Police Force, Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate and prominent activist, is proceeding with a nationwide protest on October 1.

The demonstration aims to address Nigeria’s pervasive hardships, including hunger, insecurity, petrol price increases, and the devaluation of the naira.

Sowore emphasized the peaceful nature of the protest, stating, “We will not be deterred by threats or violence. Our only weapon is truth.” He highlighted the devastating impact of bandits and floods on communities and the government’s failure to address these issues.

Key protest locations include Eagles Square Abuja and various sites across the country. Sowore assured thousands will participate, stressing that the government cannot silence the Nigerian people.

The protest’s core grievances include:

1. Widespread devastation and hunger

2. Insecurity and bandit takeovers

3. Economic hardship due to petrol price increases and naira devaluation

4. Government failure to address these issues

The October 1 protest is expected to be one of the largest demonstrations against the current government’s policies.
