Nigerian Police Disperse #FearlessInOctober Protesters with Teargas

Abuja, Nigeria – Hundreds of protesters participating in the #FearlessInOctober demonstration were met with teargas and force by Nigerian police on Tuesday.

The protesters, gathered in the Jabi and Utako areas, demanded an end to poverty, hardship, and poor governance.

Protesters carried banners reading “We are hungry” and “Enough is Enough – Revolution Now,” highlighting Nigeria’s dire economic situation:

– Skyrocketing food prices (a bag of rice costs around N100,000)

– Fuel prices surpassing N1,000

– Widespread poverty

Eyewitnesses reported injuries among protesters, but no official casualty count has been released.

One protester stated, “The government seeks to repress and oppress us, but we won’t be silenced. We demand change.”

The #FearlessInOctober movement seeks to pressure the government to address economic woes and improve living conditions, drawing Nigerians from all walks of life.
