The Lagos State Government has unveiled plans to prohibit the circulation of single-use plastics and sachet water starting January 2025. This decision aims to promote a healthier and more sustainable environment.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the ban during a stakeholders’ workshop focused on implementing the restriction on Styrofoam and single-use plastics for packaging.

Stakeholders, including the Association for Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP), have expressed support for the initiative but suggested a phased implementation to ensure seamless compliance and mitigate economic challenges.
