FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe Faces Criticism from Rural Women

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), responded to accusations of abandonment from rural women and female farmers who voted for her.

Kingibe Defends Record

“For the record, I’m the only woman elected in FCT. Governance means bringing benefits to the people. As a legislator, I’ve introduced bills for a nursing and midwifery school, free maternal healthcare, and more.

In the past year and a half, I’ve empowered 10,000 people, built a 50-bed hospital, established ICT centers, and funded 2,000 JAMB forms personally.

Being a woman in the National Assembly is challenging; I must lobby for everything.

Renovations at Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital’s ante-natal center were funded personally.

Please verify these achievements.

I understand women’s complaints, but personalized visits aren’t feasible.

Voting for women leaders aims to improve lives, not facilitate personal meetings.”

Bisi Fayemi, former Ekiti State first lady, emphasized:

“Keep campaign promises; utilize constructed roads when seeking re-election.”

Toun Oni, Women’s FM CEO, advocated:

“Include women in 35% of elective and appointive positions.”
