Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is set to swear in the newly elected council chairmen of the 23 local government areas today.

The ceremony will hold at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The Action People’s Party (APP) emerged victorious, securing 22 chairmanship positions out of 23 in the recent elections conducted by the Rivers State Independent National Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

Initially suspended, the results for Etche Local Government Area were later announced, declaring Uzodinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance (AA) the winner.

RSIEC Chairman, Adolphus Enebeli, commended residents for their patriotism, describing the election as free, fair, and credible.

The election was observed by members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, chairmen of state independent electoral bodies, and the Nigerian Bar Association.

Today’s swearing-in ceremony will commence at 4:00 pm, with each chairman allowed to bring one guest. Seating begins at 3:30 pm.
