President Bola Tinubu has appealed for restraint and adherence to the rule of law in Rivers State, following recent tensions stemming from the local government council election.

In a statement issued on Monday through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed concern over reports of arson and explosions in the state.

He called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders to de-escalate the situation and discourage their supporters from engaging in violence or destructive actions.

To maintain peace and order, President Tinubu directed law enforcement agencies to:

1. Restore and maintain peace immediately

2. Ensure security of public institutions

3. Safeguard government facilities from vandalism

Emphasizing the importance of democratic principles, President Tinubu noted that the judiciary can resolve all political disputes, including election outcomes.

This appeal seeks to promote peace and stability in Rivers State.
