Libya Football Federation Condemns Nigeria’s Withdrawal from AFCON Qualifier, Threatens Legal Action

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has strongly criticized Nigeria’s decision to pull out of their scheduled 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match.

The Nigerian Super Eagles cited safety concerns after being stranded at Al Abaq Airport for over 13 hours.

In a statement, the LFF accused the Nigerian Football Federation of lacking cooperation in organizing the match and announced plans to take legal action to protect Libya’s national team interests.

The LFF stated that Nigeria’s withdrawal is unjustified, especially considering the challenges Libya faced in the first leg match. The federation also apologized to Libyan fans for the confusion caused by Nigeria’s actions.

The controversy surrounds the ongoing 2025 AFCON qualifiers, where 48 national teams compete for a spot in the Morocco tournament.
