The Lagos State High Court has ruled in favor of human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, Folarin, in a defamation case against social media critic Martin Otse, aka VeryDarkMan.

Justice M. O. Idowu ordered VeryDarkMan to remove defamatory comments and videos from his social media platforms and pay N500 million in damages for libel.

The court found VeryDarkMan’s September 24, 2024, posts linking Bobrisky to Falz and his father to be defamatory and harmful to their reputation.

Falana and Falz argued that VeryDarkMan knowingly published false claims to injure their reputation, and since the posts remain online, the damage persists.

This ruling underscores the importance of accountability in social media usage and protects individuals from online defamation.
