EFCC Arrests Radio Presenter Favour Ekoh Over Alleged Ponzi Scheme

On Monday, operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided Urban FM, a popular radio station in Enugu State, and arrested presenter Favour Ekoh during a live broadcast.

According to the EFCC, Ekoh’s arrest was related to her alleged involvement in a Ponzi scheme that defrauded over 103 Nigerians.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that Ekoh had ignored multiple invitations, prompting the agency to take action after hearing her voice on the radio.

The radio station’s management condemned the EFCC’s actions, describing them as “unethical” and claiming that armed operatives stormed the studio, interrupting the live program and seizing equipment without explanation.

However, Oyewale disputed this account, stating that no force was used and no equipment was taken. Ekoh was released immediately after making a statement.

The incident has sparked controversy, highlighting tensions between law enforcement and media outlets.
