Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), has responded to criticism surrounding the retirement of two vice presidents, Bishops Thomas Aremu and David Abioye.

The clergy faced backlash on social media after announcing the leaders’ departure.

During Bishop Aremu’s valedictory service, Oyedepo addressed the controversy, emphasizing the importance of respecting the church’s decisions.

He explained that the retirement policy is guided by the church’s constitution, “The Mandate,” revised in 2024 to lower the retirement age from 60 to 55.

Oyedepo clarified that he retains the right to serve for life, while future leaders will be limited to one or two seven-year terms, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.

He cautioned critics, saying, “Study to be quiet and mind your business… Everything works here.”

Bishop Aremu assured the congregation that he has no plans to leave Winners Chapel and establish his own church. “This is my church,” he said, acknowledging God’s guidance.

Bishop Abioye’s farewell ceremony is set for October 18, 2024. Oyedepo’s response emphasizes the church’s commitment to its operational guidelines and divine order.
