England National Team Announce Thomas Tuchel as their New Head Coach

The Football Association has confirmed Thomas Tuchel as the new head coach of the England national team. Tuchel, a renowned German manager, will begin his tenure on January 1, 2025, ahead of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Tuchel, 51, expressed his pride and excitement about leading the team, stating on (link unavailable) “I am very proud to have been given the honour of leading the England team… To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting.”

Tuchel, who has managed Chelsea, Paris St Germain, and Bayern Munich, becomes the third non-Englishman to hold the post, following Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

Anthony Barry, an English coach with experience working under Tuchel at Chelsea and Bayern Munich, will serve as his assistant. Barry currently assists Portugal boss Roberto Martinez.

The recruitment process began after Gareth Southgate’s resignation in July. Interim head coach Lee Carsley will remain in charge for the final Nations League matches before returning to his Under-21 role.

Tuchel signed his contract on October 8, but the announcement was delayed to minimize distraction around the international camp.
