Bode George, Ex-PDP Deputy Chair, Reveals Why He Didn’t Leave Nigeria

Bode George, former deputy national chair of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu’s emissary, Femi Gbajabiamila, persuaded him to stay in Nigeria.

George had vowed to leave the country in January 2022 if Tinubu won the presidential election, citing concerns about his ability to lead.

In an Arise TV interview, George said Tinubu sent Gbajabiamila, his chief of staff, to appeal to him, saying, “My boss said I should tell you, please be calm.” George felt this acknowledged past wrongs and expressed regret.

George had criticized Tinubu’s presidency and the judiciary’s role in the election outcome, advocating for electoral power to return to the people. However, Gbajabiamila’s gesture changed his mind about leaving Nigeria.
