Nigeria’s national power grid suffered its third collapse in seven days and eighth blackout this year on October 19, 2024, leaving millions without electricity.

The grid recorded zero megawatts, sparking widespread frustration and questions about the reliability of the country’s electricity supply.

This incident follows previous assurances from the Minister of Power that have yet to materialize.

The frequent grid collapses have severe economic consequences, impacting work, study, and business operations. Nigeria has experienced 20 national grid collapses in the last five years.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not commented on the cause or resolution.
