Pastor William Kumuyi, General Superintendent of Deeper Life Christian Life Ministry, has called on fellow clergymen to stop financially exploiting their members under the guise of “sowing seeds” for prosperity.
Speaking at a Christian meeting on October 18, Kumuyi emphasized that preachers should provide solutions to their members’ needs, not exploit them. He cited the example of Elijah, who helped the poor and vulnerable.
Kumuyi criticized preachers who take from widows, leaving them poorer. “Examine yourself,” he urged. “Where are those who gave everything to prophets? How are their children doing?”
He expressed concern about church founders accumulating wealth at their members’ expense. “The preachers of today are getting richer at the expense of their members. Someone needs to speak out against this.”
Kumuyi advocated for a reversal of this trend, citing Elisha’s example of providing supernatural supply to suffering widows. He urged fellow clergy to prioritize helping the vulnerable, rather than exploiting them.
