Canadian Woman, Adrienne Munju, Sentenced to 11 Years for Importing Synthetic Cannabis into Nigeria

A Federal High Court in Lagos State convicted Adrienne Munju, a 41-year-old Canadian woman, for importing 74 parcels of Canadian Loud, a potent synthetic cannabis strain weighing 35.20 kilograms.

Munju was arrested on October 3, 2024, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. She confessed to being recruited online to traffic the drugs for 10,000 Canadian dollars to fund her Master’s degree in Canada.

Justice Dehinde Dipeolu found Munju guilty on two counts, violating sections 20(1)(a) and 19 of the NDLEA Act. She was sentenced to six years for count one and five years for count two, with an option of a N100 million fine.

The conviction serves as a strong warning to those involved in drug trafficking.
