Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, has categorically denied involvement in facilitating a $57.5 billion loan for the Biafra Republic Government in Exile.

Separatist leader Simon Ekpa claimed on October 23, 2024, that the World Bank and International Monetary Fund approved the loan, thanking Okonjo-Iweala for her assistance.

Okonjo-Iweala swiftly dismissed the allegations, labeling them “outrageous” and false. She urged individuals misusing her name to cease such actions immediately.

“I know no sensible person will believe what is contained in the outrageous tweet… but in these troubled times, it is important to underscore that the statement is false,” Okonjo-Iweala stated.

This clarification reaffirms Okonjo-Iweala’s commitment to transparency and integrity in her esteemed roles, including Nigeria’s former finance minister and World Bank managing director.
