The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has approved the construction of an international airport in Zariagi, Kogi State.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration is driving this project forward.

Commissioner for Information and Communications Kingsley Fanwo announced that the approval was confirmed in a letter dated October 9, 2024.

The airport will have a profound impact on the state’s economy and residents, serving Kogi and ten neighboring states.

By locating the airport in Zariagi, which already boasts an airstrip, the state aims to:

– Reduce traffic congestion on the Lokoja-Abuja roadway

– Stimulate economic growth

– Create employment opportunities

– Enhance cargo capacity

To ensure the project’s success, Governor Ododo will assemble a team of industry experts. The Governor has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Aviation Minister for their support.

This landmark project is expected to consolidate the progress made in Kogi State over the past eight years.
