Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has filed a lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleging harassment and threats of arrest, detention, and prosecution after his tenure.
Sanwo-Olu’s suit, filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja, claims the EFCC’s actions are an abuse of power and politically motivated. He seeks declarations protecting his rights to private life, personal liberty, and freedom of movement under the Constitution.
The governor requests an order restraining the EFCC from harassing, intimidating, or prosecuting him, and from arresting or detaining his aides and family members. He also seeks to prevent the seizure of his properties or freezing of bank accounts.
Sanwo-Olu’s representatives allege the EFCC is pressuring contractors to make incriminating statements and planning to arrest aides and family members based on false corruption allegations.
The court adjourned the matter until November 11 for further mention.
