Lagos Residents Face Prosecution for Unauthorized Road Parties

The Lagos State Task Force has issued a stern warning to residents who host events on public roads, causing disruptions to traffic flow and inconvenience to other road users.

This move comes after five individuals were arrested in Ikoyi for blocking a road to host a birthday party, highlighting the growing trend of road parties in the state.

According to Chairman Adetayo Akerele, “It is unacceptable for individuals or groups to hijack public spaces, especially roads, for their selfish interests.” He emphasized that hosting events on public roads causes gridlock, disrupting daily activities and traffic flow.

To address this issue, the Task Force urges residents to:

1. Use private or government-owned facilities for social events.

2. Obtain permission from relevant authorities before hosting events on nearby streets or roads.

Violators will face prosecution and arrest for disregarding state laws banning road parties.

Report any unauthorized road closures to:

– Nearest police station

– Lagos State Task Force

The Task Force is committed to maintaining environmental decorum and ensuring smooth traffic flow across the state.
