Chidimma Adetshina, a law student and beauty queen, faces controversy over her nationality. Competing in Miss South Africa sparked questions about her eligibility due to her Nigerian father and Mozambican mother.

Despite withdrawing from the competition, she won Miss Universe Nigeria and will represent the country in Mexico.

However, South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has revoked her citizenship and travel documents, along with her mother’s, citing fraud allegations. Adetshina maintains she was born in Soweto and identifies as both South African and Nigerian.
