The 76 #EndBadGovernance protesters who have been detained arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja for their scheduled arraignment before Justice Obiora Egwuatu.
The group, which includes many minors, appeared visibly malnourished, with four individuals being rushed out of the courtroom as they struggled to stand. They looked sickly and were writhing in pain, emitting distressed sounds.
These protesters were arrested during nationwide demonstrations from August 1 to 10, sparked by severe economic hardships that prompted many Nigerians to take to the streets to voice their concerns.
The group, arrested in Abuja, Kaduna, Gombe, Jos, Katsina, and Kano states, faces accusations of treason and other offenses. Among those detained are Nura Ibrahim, 24; Abdulbasi Abdusalami, 34; Ahmed Yusuf, 25; Awolu Abdulahi, 21; Umar Musa, 15; and Muhammadu Mustapha, 16, among others.
