Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar to Leave Club

Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s influential sporting director since 2019, is set to depart the club. Gaspar, a former Arsenal midfielder and member of the legendary 2003/04 Invincibles squad, transformed the team’s transfer strategy and on-field identity.

During his tenure, Gaspar oversaw significant signings, including Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice, and facilitated the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil. Under his guidance, Arsenal spent £867m, winning the FA Cup and finishing as Premier League runners-up twice.

Gaspar’s exit is reportedly linked to interest from Evangelos Marinakis’ multi-club network, which includes Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to address the situation on Tuesday.

The club now faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement to maintain Gaspar’s momentum.
