Nigeria has been plunged into darkness once again following the collapse of the national grid.

According to DAILY POST, the national power supply was disrupted around 11:20am on Thursday.

This marks the second grid collapse this week and the twelfth occurrence in the past eleven months.

In a statement confirming the outage, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company stated:

“Dear Esteemed Customer,

“The current outage is due to a system collapse of the National Grid.

“Power system stakeholders are actively working to restore supply as quickly as possible. We kindly ask for your patience.”

As of now, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not released an official statement regarding the cause of Thursday’s collapse. However, on Tuesday, the TCN attributed a previous grid failure to trippings of lines and generators.
