Roma Sack Ivan Juric After Disappointing 12-Game Tenure as Managerial Turmoil Continues

Roma have officially announced the dismissal of head coach Ivan Juric following a disappointing 12-game tenure. Juric, the former Torino boss, took charge in September after Daniele de Rossi was sacked. Despite an initial positive start with two wins in his first three games, Juric’s performance soon waned, with only two more victories in his next nine matches across Serie A and the Europa League.

The breaking point came with a 3-2 home loss to Bologna, which extended Roma’s winless streak to three games across all competitions. This streak included a 1-1 draw with Union SG in the Europa League and a 3-2 defeat to Hellas Verona. Roma’s form in Serie A has left them 12th on the table, merely four points above the relegation zone and nine points adrift of sixth-place Lazio.

In the Europa League, Roma’s campaign has been similarly lackluster. They sit 20th in the 36-team standings, with just one win from four games, four points shy of a top-eight position that would secure a knockout spot.

Roma wasted no time in announcing Juric’s exit following the defeat, and they hinted at a swift appointment of a new manager. In their statement, the club expressed gratitude for Juric’s efforts amid challenging circumstances and promised an update on his replacement soon.

Juric’s departure marks Roma’s fourth managerial change in 2024, as Jose Mourinho initially held the role before his dismissal in January. The club now faces yet another leadership transition as they strive to turn around a turbulent season.
