Governor Umo Eno Dismisses Ibom Power CEO, Meyen Etukudoh, in Restructuring Move

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has dismissed the Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Power Company (IPC), Meyen Etukudoh, with immediate effect.

The removal was confirmed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and shared with journalists in Uyo. The statement cited Etukudoh’s dismissal as part of a broader restructuring initiative designed to align the state’s power sector with the goals of the administration’s ARISE Agenda.

Etukudoh has been instructed to hand over his duties to the Commissioner for the Ministry of Power, who will oversee the company’s operations until further notice.

Governor Eno expressed appreciation for Etukudoh’s contributions to the state and wished him well in his future endeavors.

The decision comes after Etukudoh released a statement earlier in the day, attributing the ongoing power outage across the state—starting on Wednesday—to a dispute between Ibom Power and its gas supplier, Savannah Energy Company.

The statement concluded, “In line with the ongoing restructuring under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo Eno has relieved Engr. Meyen Etukudoh of his duties as Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, effective November 14, 2024.”
