Nigerian content creator and activist, Debo Adedayo, widely known as Mr. Macaroni, has criticized the Tinubu-led administration for its perceived insensitivity to the struggles of Nigerians. He also condemned the administration’s spokespersons for attacking former President Olusegun Obasanjo, asserting they have no moral ground to criticize past governments.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Mr. Macaroni accused the current administration of living extravagantly while ordinary Nigerians endure severe hardship caused by its policies. He argued that only Nigerians, as victims of past and present poor governance, have the right to hold leaders accountable.

“I don’t support any Nigerian politician, but only the people have the right to call out or criticize any government, past or present,” he wrote. “Not the spokespersons of the current administration who use billions to buy cars and jets while Nigerians languish in poverty.”

The activist called out the government for deflecting attention from its own failures by criticizing former administrations, stating that those in power today are perpetuating the same hardships inflicted by their predecessors.

“The current government is flogging the people mercilessly but still wants to dictate how and when the people should cry. They hold the whip but try to shift blame to those who held it before them,” he added.

Macaroni also condemned citizens who defend oppressive government policies for selfish reasons, highlighting the disconnect between leaders and the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians.

“They drive the best cars, so they don’t feel the potholes. They fly private jets, so why care about the increase in flight prices? They are protected by the police and military, so they don’t understand the insecurity on the streets. The people pay for their feeding and transport allowances, so why should they worry about the cost of food or fuel hikes?”

He urged Nigerians to unite and hold leaders accountable for the country’s challenges, emphasizing that politicians, past and present, share the blame for Nigeria’s current state.

Macaroni’s remarks come in response to growing public frustration over the government’s policies, which many believe have worsened the living conditions of Nigerians.
