Canada has introduced updated regulations that will allow eligible Nigerians and other international students to work off-campus more hours.

Under the new rules, foreign students can now work up to 24 hours per week during academic terms, an increase from the previous limit of 20 hours.

Marc Miller, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, explained that this change will enable students to gain valuable work experience while balancing their academic commitments.

“This adjustment will provide students with more flexibility to manage their time and acquire practical experience,” Miller said.

He added, “By allowing international students to work more while studying, we can address urgent needs in various sectors across the country, while offering more opportunities for students to gain Canadian work experience and contribute to both our short-term recovery and long-term prosperity.”
