The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a warehouse in Oke-Afa, Okota, Lagos, containing unregistered and expired goods.

In a statement posted on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, November 20, NAFDAC revealed that its officials raided the facility after acting on intelligence. During the operation, they apprehended individuals unloading a 20ft container filled with unregistered carbonated drinks.

Further inspection of the premises revealed 14 rooms stocked with expired and unregistered products, some of which had been contaminated by rats due to poor storage conditions.

The statement read:

“NAFDAC has discovered a warehouse in Oke-Afa, Okota, Lagos, packed with unregistered and expired supermarket items.

“Acting on intelligence, a NAFDAC team raided the facility and intercepted operators offloading a 20ft container of unregistered carbonated drinks.

“Further inspection revealed over 14 rooms filled with unregistered and expired products, some contaminated by rats due to inadequate storage conditions.

“The warehouse has been sealed, and operations have been suspended pending further investigation. NAFDAC has summoned the management to provide evidence of product sourcing, including the Global Listing for Supermarket Items (GLSI) certificate.”
