Renowned human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, accusing him of using his influence to oppress fellow musician Speed Darlington.

Adeyanju made these comments while addressing the ongoing detention of Speed Darlington, who was reportedly arrested upon his return to Nigeria.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Adeyanju, who is also serving as Speed Darlington’s legal counsel, expressed his concerns about the situation. He disclosed that the rapper has been in police custody since November 25, raising questions about the legal procedures surrounding his detention.

According to Adeyanju, Burna Boy allegedly orchestrated the arrest, deploying a significant number of Mobile Police Officers (MOPOL) to carry out the detention.

He questioned why an artist of Burna Boy’s stature, who often refers to himself as “Africa’s Giant,” would go to such lengths to target a less prominent musician, whom Adeyanju described as a “small mosquito.”
