“I Lost My University Admission Due to N20,000” – Ice Prince Reflects on Childhood Struggles

Panshak Zamani, the renowned Nigerian rapper known as Ice Prince, has opened up about his childhood hardships as an orphan. The ‘Aboki’ hitmaker shared that his life took a difficult turn when he lost his mother at the age of 21, after already losing his father at just 11 years old.

In a recent appearance on the ‘Listen’ podcast, Ice Prince revealed that he took on various menial jobs to support himself through school but was unable to attend university due to a lack of N20,000.

He said, “I don’t have a mother or father. I’m an only son, and that’s quite tough. I lost my dad when I was eleven, and my mum passed away when I was about 21 or 22. I have a large family that depends on me.

“I don’t have any uncles, aunties, godfathers, or godmothers to rely on. It’s been nothing but God in my life.

“I want people to look at my journey and say, ‘If he can succeed, then nobody has an excuse to fail.’

“I was the guy who spent at least three weeks at home every term because of school fees. I couldn’t go to the university because of N20,000. I had two weeks to raise the money, but I couldn’t get it on time, and that’s how I lost my admission.”
