Mikel Obi, former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has revealed that he was once offered performance-enhancing drugs while playing for Chelsea.

He shared this insight after Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk failed a drugs test this week and was provisionally suspended by the Football Association.

Following the suspension, the Ukrainian winger issued a statement denying any wrongdoing, stating he had “not done anything wrong.”

Reacting to the situation, the former Chelsea star spoke on the Obi One Podcast, expressing his hope that Mudryk is innocent until proven guilty.

“I remember during my playing days, if someone offered me something, I would ask them what it was,” Mikel said on the podcast. “I’m responsible for what I put in my body and what I eat. People, including friends or their acquaintances, may offer you something they claim will boost your performance, but I would always question its legality.”

“I’d tell them to leave me alone. We must take responsibility for our actions, including what we consume. But for now, Mudryk is innocent until proven guilty.”
