Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has broken his silence after a dramatic incident at the Lagos State countdown event, where he kicked a fan who jumped on stage and was subsequently intervened by a bodyguard. The incident sparked widespread criticism, with many condemning Burna Boy’s actions as excessive and aggressive.

However, in a candid Instagram story, Burna Boy explained his side of the story, revealing that he has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and that the sudden invasion of his personal space triggered a reaction. He wrote, “It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10mins and did almost an hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing.”

Burna Boy emphasized that he had an amazing time performing for the crowd, but reiterated his boundaries, stating, “Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD.” He concluded his message by expressing his love for his fans and wishing them a happy new year.

By sharing his personal struggles with PTSD, Burna Boy has shed light on the emotional toll that sudden and unexpected events can take on individuals, especially those in the public eye. His explanation has sparked a nuanced conversation about mental health, personal boundaries, and the importance of respecting artists’ space during performances.
