Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has revealed the reasons behind his strained relationship with President Bola Tinubu, accusing the president of implementing policies detrimental to the nation’s progress and well-being.

During a courtesy visit to Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, a key promoter of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Governor Mohammed described Tinubu as a leader who ignores public opinion and expressed frustration over the hardship caused by his administration’s policies.

“Tinubu and I are not on good terms because his policies are causing hardship for the citizens,” the governor said, highlighting the northern region’s struggles under recent federal tax reforms.

He noted that many northern states rely heavily on federal allocations for survival and warned that the proposed reforms would worsen the region’s economic vulnerabilities.

“The North heavily relies on federal allocation to survive. These reforms will put the region under dire strain,” he added.

Governor Mohammed called on Sheikh Jingir to leverage his influence to persuade Tinubu to reconsider the policies.

“Thank God you are alive today to use your wise words of wisdom. We politicians tend to use harsh words, but I believe you can inspire the change we need,” he said.

He also urged a more inclusive governance approach that addresses the needs of economically disadvantaged regions and prioritizes the well-being of all Nigerians.
